How to remove name from people search sites?
Q. I want to get my name off the internet sort of speak, when I search my name in search sites my name comes up, how can I get these sites to remove from personal info & name from their sites.

A. Check the URL of each website and go to the main site (e.g., if you see a url of , go to ) and look for either 'Contact Us' or a privacy policy page. One or both of them should have instructions for hot to have your information removed. This usually includes removing any account you may have, so if it's a site you use regularly, look for something like Search Preferences or use a contact/customer service link to see if/how to have your name removed from search listings.

How important is having your own domain name for good search enging ranking?
Q. I've always heard that it's important to purchase your own domain name for good search enging ranking, but I see plenty of good websites on the first pages of searches that don't have their own domain name. Should be *engine* not enging...sorry!
Asked by redhairedgirl - Mon Jan 1 18:15:50 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. A domain name can make your site seems more professional and usually easier to remember. However, the ranking is mostly based on the page's popularity and the content's relevancy to the user's search input.

How do I get the name right on the search in Youtube?
Q. I just uploaded a video to Youtube (made with Windows Movie Maker) and whenever I search for it on the search, it comes up as the raw file name, then when I click on it, it comes up as the name I set it as, how can I keep it so it has the CORRECT name in the search?
Asked by Curiosity Killed the Cat - Tue May 5 17:52:51 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. YouTube "search results" only get updated every 6 hours, thus there are 3 very odd things that frequently happen in between updates: 1 -- your recently-uploaded video is "live" and "public" yet it still doesn't show up within search results -- even when you type in your username and full video title. 2 -- your recently-uploaded video is indeed there, but it is the "raw" filename which mysteriously appears alongside the thumbnail. 3 -- the "view count" shown in the search results is much less than the actual "view count" that is shown below the video when it's played. If you notice any of these peculiarities, things will usually correct themselves within 6, 12, 18 or 24 hours.

A. You didn't mention if you want the results posted on his web page or if the results button can take you to another results page. If it is anothers page you don't need anything other than copy the HTML off the WhoIs or other Domain search site and the button will take you right to that page. If you want more than that here are the links to some CGI scripts that do what your needing: That's the best - here are some others: Good Luck! ~ Blue

How do I get my my website to show up in a search engine if someone types in my name?
Q. My website does not contain my name at all, but I'd like people to be able to be linked to it by searching my name on Yahoo or Google. I think I read somewhere that you can add hidden text (I'm using dreamweaver) to the page and add my name and other info, etc. I don't know how to do this. If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.
Asked by MakeLemonade - Thu Jun 19 10:11:25 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Most of the more important search engines like Google ignore meta tags so putting your name in the tags will not help. Trying to hide your name in your pages will get you penalized. Best to stick with trying to get your site's name with a decent page rank. Ron

A. Consider what Google does. It's a search engine. In order to "remove a certain entry that's listed under your name" you have to get whoever own/controls that site to remove it. Since it's a new story, you probably won't be able to.
