What is the legal warranty for mobile phones bought from an orange shop?
Q. I have had my phone for about 7-8 months and it keeps turning itself off every 5 minutes. I called Orange to see what advice they could give me and they said that it is out of the 6 month warranty. I thought that all electrical items have a 12 month warranty, or does this not apply to Orange? I can't find details of how long their warranty on mobile phones is anywhere so any help is appreciated.

A. In wheat where I interest itself for mobile telephones, I see that they give one year.

What is the xbox360 warranty period after a replacement?
Q. I have an xbox360 that has the red ring of death issue. I'm in the process of returning it to Microsoft for a replacement. I know that Microsoft just extended the warranty to three years. Does this mean the warranty is three years from my original date of purchase or does the warranty clock reset when I get the replacement Xbox?

How does a home warranty work?
Q. I've been researching home warranties as I get ready to purchase a place with a very old furnace/ac unit. Does anyone know if this is correct? If I get a warranty from a company like AHS, if the furnace breaks - then they will replace it on their dime? This deal just seems to be too good to be true on $400/yr premium... Thanks!
Asked by B B - Thu Jun 11 06:38:37 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. After doing work with a few different home warranty companies in the past I can say most are not worth what you'll pay for them yearly... You still pay a trip fee most times for the service man, and honestly its rare for most homeowners to get even the 400 a year in service, with the HVAC units they have a cap on what they contribute, and most times they will repair old appliances as long as the repair is under a set price for a new one, even when advised by the tech that a new one is the best approach. I have also seen that they have a previously existing problem clause in the contract, so if the ac or furnace breaks too soon after coverage starts, its not covered anyway.

What is the average warranty offered on roofing?
Q. I am trying to figure out what the average warranty is on roofing, for the materials not the installation, to help me evaluate a green building program. What is the average warranty, and if possible can you provide source/s? Ideally I'd like to know what the majority of production builders buy for their houses.

What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and a seller warranty?
Q. I am looking to buy a Canon digital camera bundle on eBay, but there's only a seller warranty and not a manufacturer warranty from Canon. I asked the seller what the difference between these two is, but I have yet to receive a reply. Thank you.
Asked by Ilya B - Sat Feb 20 12:53:11 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Huge. Stick with the manufacturers warranty. When a seller offers a sellers warranty, this means that the camera is either a gray market camera (stay away) or they are trying to upsell you with an extended sellers warranty (basically insurance, but does not guarantee that your camera will be repaired by Canon)

What is the difference between a title and warranty deed?
Q. My husband and I just bought our first home. My name is listed on the title but not on the warranty deed. They actually had him as single on the warranty deed but corrected it. Should I be concerned that my name is not on the warranty deed?

A. The deed is a physical document. Title is an abstract concept related to ownership rights. Having title is essentially having rights to the property. Title insurance is like any other insurance except that it is insuring that you continue to have rights to the property. So my guess is that what your name is on is actually a title insurance policy. Your name can't be on the title because title is a concept or group of rights, not a piece of paper. A deed may help to build the case for title but itself is not title. I could make up a deed to your house right now take it to your county courthouse and have it recorded. It would be fraudulent, it would not grant me any rights and would not help me to take title (or take the rights) on… [cont.]

Is it more expensive to buy an extended auto warranty after the car is purchased?
Q. My in-laws just bought a new Toyota and opted not to buy the extended warranty at this time. The guy said they could purchase the Toyota extended warranty any time for the same price as long as it was during the existing warranty period. Is this correct?
Asked by NJB - Tue Sep 4 10:52:43 2007 - - 5 Answers - 2 Comments
A. Yes, this is absolutely correct, it goes WAAAYYY up after you let the car go out of manufacturer's warranty. the car could have just ONE mile left under the original manufacturer's warranty and you can still get the same price he offered, but let that car go ONE mile OVER, and you will regret it. Works the same way for my line of cars also.

What happens when you turn in a leased chrysler with a voided warranty?
Q. Our 2006 Towne and country developed a knock in the engine. We did not have enough proof in writing of maintenance, so the dealer voided the warranty. We had the car fixed at an engine shop, not the dealer. We have to turn the car in next month and wonder what will happen now that the warranty was voided, even though the problem has been corrected. Also, the warranty would now have expired anyway, as we are over the mileage of the original warranty. What happens now?
Asked by katie s - Mon Jun 23 15:46:49 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Since the problem is fixed, there should be no problem. When you turn it in, they will check it over to make sure everything is in working order, so you should be fine since it's been fixed and everything is in working order. I wouldn't even mention anything about the motor having been repaired/replaced unless they ask you about it.

Q. I had a four year warranty on my vehicle and when I moved somehow the papers were lost. Now I need repairs that are still under warranty but how do I get the repairs if I don't have proof of a warranty? The car was not bought at a dealer. It was through a military auction. I also forgot to mention that I am now out of state of where the vehicle was purchased. Wondering if the warranty will even still be honored?

A. Your vehicle information should be stored in a computer under the file of the warranty company and any shop that honors those warranties should be able to type in your vehicle info and see what is covered under your warranty.

A. You couldn t have picked a better time to buy! Car sales are off as much as 60% in most areas and car dealers are doing whatever it takes to move inventory. This works heavily in your favor. If you plan on purchasing your car from a franchise dealer I would strongly recommend you purchase your warranty from them. It will be the best product to meet your needs and the service can be done at that dealership. But here is the best part! Q. If a Volvo is still under its warranty, could one service it or get its oil changed, etc, somewhere other than the dealership without voiding the warranty? Just wanted to know. Thanks!
Asked by haynedoy - Fri Jun 13 19:25:47 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. First answer is completely incorrect in all cases. Yes, you can get the car serviced somewhere besides the dealer. You can even service it yourself. As long as either the independent shop, or you, do all the required maintenances, use the proper filters and fluids, and most importantly, keep records of it. The warranty cannot legally be voided if you do this, and the manufacturer cannot require you to take it to the dealership for service. It's a good idea to at least get SOME of the service done at the dealership, as the techs there will be much more familiar with your particular make of car than an independent shop that works on everything is. So they'll know all the typical things to keep an eye on once the car gets up… [cont.]

If you don't report a problem in a timely manner. If you have a heating man come to diagnose your heater problem it voids the insurance because someone else just looked at your heater.
